Open fields and undulating creeks as far as the eyes can see. The hazy sky is tainted by wild fires. It is extremely hot and the grasses are crispy dry with patches of green. The buffalo roamed this land a long time ago and the First Nations hunted them. The buffalo jump keeps their stories alive.

The tepee reminds us of the not so distant past of Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump, when the First Nations lived utilizing the land and all it had to offer. Come see the amazing exhibits, the dances, hear the drums and the compelling stories at Head Smashed in Buffalo jump near Fort Macleod.

The story of Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump is fascinating and the site preserves the history of it very well.
You can picture the buffalo roam the land and graze the grass. You can find some prairie grasses here along with delicious Saskatoon berries and local wild flowers. The open land seems endless with a sense of mystery.
