Later I made Indian curry for dinner with my favourite wine, Dande, a delicious dandelion wine made in Millarville, by Spirit Hills Wines. I have been working for the winery for nearly 5 years as a contractor and the owners treat me more like a friend than a worker. When I sent Ilse, the owner, whom we call the Queen Bee a text asking her if I could buy a bottle of Dande, she texted back: “Just have one.” That put a smile on my face and I felt valued and appreciated. That is often how I feel when I talk with her. She has a special way of treating people well.
After dinner I found a love note on the table from Neil. A simple “I love you” note on a purple paper, with a white rose next to it, from a bouquet of flowers Neil bought me about a week ago and a purple heart shaped rock, given to me by his daughter Katherine a few months ago. After all those wonderful gifts, loving thoughts and a belly full of delicious curry, I didn’t feel the losses COVID 19 brought me before. I felt loved and honoured by the wonderful people who always have something nice and kind to say and do. Thank you all, you made a bleak day not only bearable but wonderful. As far as the book release party goes, sooner or later it will be safe to have one and it will be just as good as ever because of all the loving, caring, supportive people who enrich my life. Thank you for all the joy you bring into my life.
