The Chinook Arch is such an amazing phenomenon. It is always a thrill to see it. This one tonight was colorful and beautiful with the setting sun.

Taking this picture was one of the rare magical moments of a lifetime. I was walking in thick snowfall in Ujmohacs, Hungary. It was so quiet you could hear the snow falling. No one around, just a few birds, mother nature and me. And all of a sudden I saw two children in the middle of an open field with a toboggan. They were trowing snowballs, building something with the snow and having a good ole' time. If they saw me they must have ignored my presence and kept having fun.
The beauty of the scene is not only captured in this picture but also etched in my memory. You must be disappointed if you expected some exotic Canadian cocktail. This is not that. It is two maple leaves on a weathered sand stone on Hornby Island near Ford Cove. With autumn fast approaching it is a timely post.
Did you see the stunning colors the day after our first snowfall? The trees are in their full fall glory and the snow on the ground gives them a great contrast. The colors seem much more vivid than with the usual browns.
Hard to get away from places like Hornby Island where you can spot cool looking rocks like this dinosaurs rock. Like a legless dino fossilized and made a permanent home on the beach. Lapped at by the gentle waves and whipped by the gale force winds and forceful waves crashing on it.
Sun or shine this guy stands trough the changing times. |
